Mahomes, flanked by two new tackles, will face what the Lions hope is a significantly improved secondary, considering the money invested in pass defense. And Goff will be passing to a mostly new set of skill position players while his offensive line tries to contain Chris Jones.
Only two teams ended with a better ATS record than Detroit (12-5) in 2022. The Lions also covered the spread in three of four games when they were six-point or greater underdogs. The Chiefs, on the other hand, were one of the worst teams to bet on last season, finishing 5-5 against the spread as a six-point favorite.

The Chiefs last played in the season opener in 2020, when they defeated the Texans 34-20, fresh off Mahomes’ first ring. They’ve also scored 33 points or more in Week 1 for the past seven years in a row. Andy Reid’s offenses are known for their quick start.
You might want to consider taking the OVER for the game total as well. Both teams have good or great offenses and are not known for their ability to stop scoring.
